Employment demand for people with Middle Skills remains high across Texas. Middle Skills jobs require some education or training beyond high school. They do not need a four-year degree.
The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) approved $1 million in WIOA Statewide funds to address this demand. Local Workforce Development Boards (Boards) may access the funds to assist individuals with:
- exams fees;
- licensure fees; and
- credentialing expenses;
associated with Middle Skills jobs. Funds may also be used to connect credentialed individuals with employment opportunities.
Apply for Credentialing Support
Boards may apply for up to $100,000 to support Middle Skills credentialing activities and employment connections in their area. There are two programs Boards may apply for to access these funds.
Boards that apply successfully through the Credential Funding Support path may pay fees associated with:
- exams;
- licenses; or
- credentials;
needed to attain employment in a Middle Skills job. Boards must provide all information requested in the application linked below to be considered for this program.
Application Instructions
Boards will have from March 1, 2024, to May 31, 2024, to submit applications. All submissions should go to SWI.BoardApplications@twc.texas.gov. Boards should expect an acknowledgement of their application shortly after submission. Successful applicants will receive a grant within 60 days of approval. Successful applicants will be funded for a period of 12 months.
